As close as we have never been

A simple hello can lead to a million things

Premiere: 07.01.2023 Dschungel, Wien

Do you know this: You are standing somewhere alone and suddenly your eyes meet with a person who is a stranger to you. At first it’s awkward or embarrassing, but also exciting. Do we know each other? Often we avoid glances and close ourselves off for fear of sending wrong signals or because it makes us insecure. Here the two performers meet again and again. They show us a never-ending series of beginnings. They watch each other and discover in eye contact a connection that cannot be put into words.

This is a dance performance about encounters that take place anywhere, anytime, and with anyone. It focuses on the moments of first interaction and the impressions we leave behind when we meet a person for the first time. The performance highlights the value of face-to-face interaction and communication, and suggests greeting alternatives for encounters and building relationships between us all.
